Theo Bosboom Natuurfotografie

Theo Bosboom (1969) is a professional photographer with a great passion for nature. In 2003 he made his first pictures of landscapes and wildlife during a long trip to Namibia and Tanzania. In the years that followed photography soon became much more than just a hobby and eventually it got more and more difficult to combine it with his career as an IT lawyer at the Dirkzwager lawfirm. In 2013 Theo decided to jump into the deep and became a fulltime photographer, leaving his established career and the certainty of a steady income behind to follow his dream.

Although Theo has a general interest in photography, he specialises in nature photography, including landscapes, plants, wildlife and macro. Theo is regarded as a creative nature photographer with a good eye for detail and composition. He has won numerous awards at major international photography competitions, like the Wildlife Photographer of the Year, the European Wildlife Photographer of the year, Nature’s best, Travel Photographer of the Year, Asferico and Afpan. In 2014 he was the winner of the 1st and 3rd prize in the nature series category of the  'Zilveren Camera', a prestiguous photo contest for photo journalists in the Netherlands.

Theo is a regular contributor to leading magazines such as National Geographic (NL), GEO, Outdoor Photography and OnLandscape and his work has been published in many other magazines and in national newspapers like NRC and Trouw. Theo has published two photobooks (available on this website and on Amazon): Iceland pure (2012) and Dreams of wilderness (2015) and he is currently working on a third one about the Atlantic coast of Europe. Theo's pictures are licensed worldwide through Nature picture library (

Theo is leading fototours to Iceland and Spain (Asturias) for Nordic Vision and gives workshops within the Netherlands on a regular basis. He really enjoys sharing his vision and knowledge with other passionate photographers.

For Theo nature photography is the ideal mix between enjoying the wonders of nature and creative expression. He would be very happy if his photo’s could make a contribution to the love for and the preservation of nature.

Theo is living in Arnhem, the Netherlands, with his girlfriend Kirsten and their daughters Lena (7) and Lotte (5).
