Many of you are probably forced to stay at home these days and are maybe feeling bored or anxious or insecure. Therefore I have decided to organise a brand new photo contest about beaches, the coast and the sea!
It is inspired by this wonderful quote of Rainer Maria Rilke: “When anxious, uneasy and bad thoughts come, I go to the sea, and the sea drowns them out with its great wide sounds, cleanses me with its noise, and imposes a rhythm upon everything in me that is bewildered and confused.” Because many of us are not able to go to the beach at the moment, let’s go there with our pictures.
Of course the contest is completely free to enter and it is open for everyone, amateurs and (semi)pro’s! There are wonderful prices to win, including 20 x 30 cm limited edition Shaped by the sea fine arts prints, signed copies of Shaped by the sea and vouchers for workshops.
There are 4 categories:
1. Wide landscapes international
2. Wide landscapes The Netherlands
3. Intimate landscapes international
4. Intimate landscapes The Netherlands
The two ‘The Netherlands’ categories are open for everyone, but the images must have been taken in the Netherlands, on the Dutch coast. The two ‘International’ categories are also open for everyone, but the images must have been taken in the rest of the world, so not on the Dutch coast.
A wide landscape is everything with a sky and a horizon in the image; intimate landscapes are the small scenes that you find along the coast. .
Another rule is that the images must have been taken before the lock down, so let’s say the 1st of March 2020, to prevent unfair competition. So check your archives, you have plenty of time for it now!
There are no restrictions on image processing, double exposure etc. But please note that the jury normally prefers subtle over hysterical.
The winning images will be published on my timeline, of course with full credits to the photographers. Please note that the images will not be used for free publications, calenders etc. and will be deleted from my computer after the contest.
The jury will consist of me, assisted by my daugthers Lena (9) and Lotte (7) and maybe one or two secret experts. Of course the decisions of the jury are binding and there will be no discussion about the results.
This is how to enter:
Send your images (max 1 per category) as a low res jpeg, 1920 pixels on the longest side, max 5 mb, per email or even better per wetransfer to info@theobosboom.nl. Please put the number of the category and your name in the file name (so Cat1_TheoBosboom). If you want you can send a short description of the image and tell me where it was taken, but you don’t have to.
The deadline for sending the images is March 27, 2020.
Let me know if you have any questions! I am really looking forward to your images. And please share this post, so we will reach more possible participants.
Nieuw: Shaped by the sea fotowedstrijd!
1. Weidse landschappen internationaal
2. Weidse landschappen Nederland
3. Intieme landschappen internationaal
4. Intieme landschappen Nederland
